Woodbine is the most famous name in Canadian race course history. The track is home to the $1 million Queen's Plate, North America's oldest continuously run stakes race; the $1 million Woodbine Mile; the $2 million Pattison Canadian International and the $1.5 million North America Cup for Standardbreds.

Slot Machines were opened at Woodbine in March 2000. Under terms of an agreement with the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLGC), 1,700 slot machines are operated by the OLGC on a 56,000 square foot slot floor.

June 16 2009 TORONTO, JUNE 16 – The fastest 1.25 miles in Canada will be celebrated on June 21, at 4:30 p.m. ET, with the 150th running of the Queen’s Plate at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto, Ontario, North America’s oldest thoroughbred race and the first jewel in Canada’s Triple Crown. Ron MacLean hosts the 150th Queen’s Plate on CBC, taking the reins to bring Canadians all of the excitement from Canada’s most prestigious horse race. The historical running of the Queen’s Plate will be presented live in High Definition on CBC Television and streamed live on CBCSports.ca. MacLean will be joined by Diana Swain and racing analysts Jim Bannon and Renee Kierans. Canadian jockey legend Sandy Hawley, with 6,450 wins and more than $88 million in purse earnings, will also offer his insight and analysis. Woodbine track announcer Dan Loiselle will once again be on-hand to call the race for the 23rd consecutive year. The 150th Queen’s Plate on CBC broadcast features an inside look at Northern Dancer, Canada’s most successful thoroughbred racehorse. With wins at the Queen’s Plate and Preakness Stakes, Northern Dancer was also the first Canadian-born horse to win the Kentucky Derby in 1964. QP at 150: History, Heritage and Hope, a documentary hosted by Allen Abel that takes viewers from the broodmare barn to the winner’s circle with a history of the race’s most intriguing moments, will air on CBC’s digital channel bold, on Wednesday, June 17, at 6 p.m. ET, with encore presentations at 11 p.m. ET and Saturday, June 20, at 6 p.m. ET. CBC’s documentary will broadcast QP at 150: History, Heritage and Hope on Thursday, June 18, at 7 p.m. ET, with an encore presentation 11 p.m. ET. The documentary will also be available on-demand at CBCSports.ca.
