WHAT IS DAHN YOGA?

Dahn Yoga (also known as Dahn Hak or Dahnhak) is a holistic health and training program that empowers individuals to manage their own bodies well in order to become more healthy, happy and peaceful. Dahn Yoga Centers accomplish this mission through the creation of tools to foster the health and well-being of the individual, family and society as a whole.
In Korean, "Dahn" means energy, vitality, and origin of life, and "Hak" means study, philosophy, and theory. Dahnhak is the study of energy (Ki, Chi) and how to use it for personal empowerment by restoring mind-body communication based on brain.

Dahn Yoga emphasizes the brain because it is the thing that creates and controls every aspect of human life. Health, feeling and experience, physical movement, motivation and purpose- all of these are based on brain activity. All life can be improved by better use of our brains.

I'm here to do yoga. Why should I learn about the brain?

Actually, all mind-body practices, including other forms of yoga and meditation, have an effect on the brain. The sense of peace, release of tension, and reduction of stress that these practices offer are due to their effect on the brain. The BEST 5 programs, which are the structures of Brain Education System Training, differ only in that they focus on and accentuate these effects.
Learning about the brain is also the best way to move your practice out of the center and into your life. If you only practice yoga as physical exercise, you are not really tapping into its full potential. Approaching your practice as exercise may help you relax in the moment, but wouldn't you like to carry peace into all areas of your life? That is why we study the brain so intensely in the deeper levels of this practice. By learning to become the master of your brain, you become the master of your life.

What will I learn at Dahn Yoga center?

Dahn Yoga classes include stretching, breathing exercises, meditation, martial arts and energy work. For those with diverse interests, Dahn Yoga also offers special programs, workshops, retreats and other advanced-level training opportunities.
