I met up with some friends at the Burgundy Lion without knowing much about what would turn out to be a gem in the heart of Little Burgundy. I want to say it was the first TRUE British Pub that I've been to in Montreal, but the word "pub" just doesn't seem to do the food justice. I had the Shepherds pie ($13.00) that rivals Moms home cooking. The highland burgers ($13.00) were more than one person could possibly eat, and very well seasoned. We kicked our evening off with a cheese plate ($12.00) that was conservative but complimented our bottle of Smoking Loon Viogner well ($35.00).
Service was warm and hospitable thanks to Genevieve. At one point we dropped a fork on the floor and within a few seconds a waiter came dashing towards us with a new fork in hand. As each of us finished our dinner, plates were cleared almost instantaneously (one of my pet peeves is having my leftovers sitting in front of me).
If your looking for great pub style food with warm and friendly service, then I would suggest giving Burgundy Lion a go.
